Jacqueline Boyle

Age: 18 months

Sex: male

Date: 1 Apr 1962

Place: Philbeach Convalescent Home, Station Road, Hythe

Jacqueline Boyle died in a fire at the Philbeach Convalescent Home in Station Road, Hythe on 1 April 1962.

However, it wasn't known how the fire started. A box of matches was later found between the folds and feathers of the damp mattress.

Jacqueline Boyle had been asleep in a cot in room 15 at the time.

The Coroner said that the fire could have been started in one of three ways.

  1. Somebody went into the room to have a look at Jacqueline Boyle while smoking a cigarette and the end dropped off into the bedding.
  2. Jacqueline Boyle might have had a box of matches in the bed that she had picked up.
  3. Someone had deliberately set fire to the cot.
